Day Three - May 15 - The Cartoon Day

This times we leave at 8:00 a.m.  It's in the '60's and sunny.   It's also very windy!  We spy a baby rabbit in the campground before pulling out.

A few stops along the way - McDonald's in Hays, KS

Fuel stoops

Normal day?  Not so.....

We have to take a detour off I-70, but manage to find our way back to the interstate.

Oh, look!  A herd of buffalo.  No, bison.  No, buffalo.  This goes on for awhile when we realize that we shouldn't see them here.  (Buffalo!)

Gets a little more strange....we see a roadrunner cross the road.  No, not a car, the bird.  I looked at David and went "MEEP MEEP!"  You know I had to do that!

We look and see a bunch of turkeys standing by the roadside.  No, not people, but real Thanksgiving kind of turkeys, but still a live and not stuffed with dressing.

You are by now wondering where the pictures of this trip are.  The lens on my camera has locked up.  It refuses to focus.  Fortunately, I brought my older camera and it has the same lens.  I'll probably back up with photos soon.  Looking for a Best Buy along the road to have them check it out.

So far we've seen Bugs Bunny (rabbit), the Roadrunner, and we're about to meet one we don't want to meet.....Pepé Le Pew!

We noticed an odor in the truck and both of us looked at Chrissy.  She looked back at us like "What?"  She started running back and forth in the truck sticking her nose into the vents.  We looked out and saw farmers dressing their fields.  When I say dressing, I don't mean top coat and tails.  Manure mixed so it's spreadable.  Can I tell you I thought Pepe was in the truck?  Made out eyes water!

We drive over Turkey Creek and I remark that they Turkey is a little dry.  David just rolled his eyes at me on that one.

Then we cross time zones into Mountain Time, but there is no mountain nearby!

At 12:07 p.m. we reach Colorado!!!

One more fuel stop for the night - I think.  One to Colorado Springs.  Again, we knew where we didn't want to stay, so I picked a new campground.  Drove right on by and went straight to Garden Of The Gods Campground.  Got a spot for a few days.  Lots of fun coming up!
