I should have named one of the posts "The Association." Remember the song "Windy?" We've been in some major winds!
While traveling from Kansas to Colorado, the winds were fierce! Instead of crosswinds, we had head winds. Contrary to what you may think, all of Kansas is not flat. It begins to get hilly as you get closer to Colorado. There were times I thought I would have to get out and push to get the RV over the next hill. I asked David if we couldn't go faster than 25 mph on a 70 mph road. He calmly replied that the wind was blowing 25-30 mph and the gas pedal was all the way to the floor!
Fuel prices are much higher out west than at home. We've had some great meals, some great campgrounds. We've pretty much lost our cell service. Trying to find a long distance calling card is not easy unless you want to call Mexico.
We took a back road into Colorado Springs and I saw a sign saying "No Services For Next 70 Miles." I asked David if we had enough fuel and he said yes. So off we went. There was NOTHING on this road. We could see verga in the air, but it wasn't raining on the ground. The closer we got to Colorado Springs, the slower we started going. It was getting to be a long day, so I asked David what was going on. We were going up a hill slow and going down a hill slow. Turns out fuel was low due to wind and pulling the trailer in it. He was trying to conserve fuel. Just before getting into the city we found a gas station and got fuel. We also ran into a couple from Decatur, Alabama! They were seeing the sights on a motorcyle.
The verga we'd been seeing? Turned into a heavy rain with small hail! Didn't last long and we finally got to the campground!
If you need to reach us, email us. We can pretty much access wi-fi!
There's something better down the road!
Jenny :)
